Joseph Devaz was fascinated with the culinary arts from a very young age. Growing up watching his mother cooking authentic Sri Lankan cuisine for family and friends sparked a passion inside him to experiment with ingredients and spice combinations.

Dedicating his life to getting to know food and having traveled widely and embraced diverse cultures and culinary styles, Chef De Vaz has taken his zest for food to a whole new level, using ethnic flavours to create traditional Sri Lankan dishes with a twist.

With over 25 years of experience in the food industry, and after the successful launches of Downtown Vancouver’s Rice N’ Spice and Sapphire South Asian Fusion  restaurants, Chef De Vaz has now opened up Emerald Culinary Club & Catering to continue sharing his love for cooking.
